The tester is designed to emulate a subset of the alarms/error polling command sequences sent by a Primary Collect Processor (PCP) to a Network Element (NE). The tester may also simply monitor the responses of network elements being polled by a separate, active PCP.
The tester can either monitor or poll a selected address on the dual 128kHz HDLC bus linking a primary collect processor (PCP) to multiple network elements (NE). Line standards is EIA 485 with NRZI coding . The poll responses of addressed NE's are decoded and displayed including any HDLC transmission errors.
The tester has two main modes of operation - Polling and Monitoring. Newly installed NE's can be initialized to a unique polling address by using the address learn facility. The tester is powered from a nominal 240V AC supply.
